  20. INTRODUCTION
  21. ------------
  22.  This single disc version of the Award Construction Kit contains only a very
  23. small selection from the ever growing main kit and its data discs. You are
  24. encouraged to appraise the kit at your leisure and decide for yourself if you
  25. wish to register as a user and receive the full program. The first version of
  26. ACK was released as a commercial product but the costs involved were
  27. prohibitive and I did not think the selling price fair on the end users.
  28. Since then the program has received a revamp and by distributing it in this
  29. fashion I hope to give the users a fair program at a fair price.

  33. BEFORE YOU START
  34. ----------------
  35.  Before you run the main ACK program you must set the printer and printer
  36. graphics preferences to the settings required by your system.
  37.  
  38. Here are some tips if you are unsure of how to go about this:-
  39.  
  40. 1) Double click on the prefs icon and then on the printer icon.
  41. 2) First select the correct driver for your printer by scrolling up or down
  42.    the selection included. If the correct driver for your printer is not
  43.    included on the list then it will have to be copied from your workbench
  44.    extras disc (or some other source) to the Devs/Printer directory of this
  45.    disc and the previous step repeated.
  46. 3) Some care should now be taken to set up your size of paper, graphic dump
  47.    and density settings, since the final size and quality of output will
  48.    depend solely on these settings.
  49. 4) If you are unfamiliar with the setting of the printer graphics preferences
  50.    here are a few suggested base settings:-
  51.  
  52.     ASPECT     - Horizontal            IMAGE     - Positive
  53.     SHADE      - Grey 1 or Colour        SMOOTHING - On
  54.     CENTRE PIC - On                DITHERING - Halftone
  55.     SCALING    - Integer            LIMITS    - Ignore
  56.     DENSITY    - consult your manual for the highest density supported.
  57.  
  58. 5) When ready save these base settings for future use.
  59. 6) Now you should be able to print out the following quick instructions.

  61. QUICK INSTRUCTIONS 
  62. ------------------
  63. 1) Double click on the Award-Kit Icon. The program will load and you will be 
  64.    presented with the Style selection screen
  65. 2) Select a style number by dragging the slider along the bar or by clicking
  66.    once on either side of the slider to step up or down one position.
  67. 3) Click on "OK" when ready to load in the chosen style number and display
  68.    the main editing panel.
  69. 4) Click on the button of your choice and just follow your creative instincts.
  70. 5) If desired you can toggle between the workbench and the Award Kit by 
  71.    pressing the left amiga + n keys. (Perhaps to read these instructions or
  72.    access the printer preferences)
  73. 6) IMPORTANT:- Before clicking on the print button ensure that the correct
  74.    size of paper is loaded and that the printer is 'READY' or 'ON-LINE'.
  75. 7) Full instruction booklet is supplied with the registered version.

  79. Please note that the registered version of this program and it's data discs
  80. are copyright and may not be freely distributed in any form.

  93.     Instruction booklet with illustrations of the borders, seals etc.

  95.  Registration costs £7.95 (UK) and includes post and packing.
